It began with two thoughts: one, Internet advertising is pointless and annoying. Two, while MTV is dead, music videos are alive and well on YouTube. But f you want to watch your favorite Taylor Swift video, you’re first dragooned into watching an ad, like say, a pig squealing for car insurance.
This got us wondering; what if online ads were based on a fair value exchange? Opening Act turns the pre-roll ad space into a platform for the discovery of new music, banishing the aforementioned pig and his friends to the pits from whence they came.
